Summer of reflection
I love summer and I’m sad to see it quickly coming to a close. But I can’t complain. This was my first summer creating work under my new business name, Flourishing Fibers, and it was pretty EPIC (my son loves that word).
I feel like I have accomplished so much in just three months. I was able to launch my site pretty close to the deadline I gave myself. I’m extremely proud of the pieces I’ve created so far and I have so much more coming this year. I attended my first Instagram maker/woodworking meet up and got to meet in person many of my Instagram friends and followers. I exceeded my sales expectations. I’ve seen my Instagram following grow from 1,500 to over 5k! I sent out my first newsletter and also posted this, my first blog post :)
These achievements are all business related but my personal life also had many new and positive changes and experiences. For the first time in my life, I have found a workout routine that I enjoy and have been able to keep up with. I feel my strongest, not only physically but also mentally. My son and I took an unforgettable vacation that made our bond even stronger. Opting out of summer camps for him and choosing for him to stay home for the summer let me spend so much time with him. I really got to witness my beautiful son growing into a kind, charming and clever human being. And to get even more personal with you I even started dating! Wha!? Yeah, I know!
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few other memorable summer events. My point is, I need to pause once in a while and really give myself a reminder that everything is good. Everything slowly but surely is falling into place. Now, I know that none of my words are profound in any way. We all know that we should "stop and smell the roses" but how many of us actually do? I know I don't. But I'm trying really hard to change that.
I hope you enjoy the final days of Summer 2018 and I'll see you soon!
